Detroit pest control

We Michigan's top experts in rodent control. We are not a typical Detroit rat removal or pest control company. We don't treat rats or mice like insects, because they are not - they are mammals! You can't just use poison to get rid of them, like you can with insects. Unlike most Detroit pest control, we focus on complete and permanent solutions. We don't just use poison every month. We solve your rodent problem forever, by following these steps:

  • Inspect the entire house, ground to roof, and the attic
  • Seal shut all entry areas, no matter how small, with steel
  • Set a dozen or more rat or mouse traps in the house and attic
  • Remove all rodents as they are caught and monitor for activity
  • Once there is no more activity and no more caught, we're done
  • When necessary, we clean rodent droppings, replace insulation, and repair chewed electric wires

Detroit Rodent Removal Tip:

How can I get rid of a rat in my bedroom?
You probably dread the moment when you discover a rat living merrily inside your home. And if there's one thing worse than discovering a rat inside your attic or basement, it's learning there's a rat living inside your bedroom - the most private place, where we like to think we're safe. Yet rats can get into your bedroom, as easily as they would any other part of your home, so in this article, we'll be looking at methods to successfully get a rat out of your bedroom.

First things first, what's the rat doing in your bedroom, anyway?
It's important to remember that rats, much like any other creature in this world, are looking for two things: food and shelter. It's quite probable that the reason the rat has come to your bedroom in the first place is that it offers one or the other (or in rare cases, even both).

rodent trapping See, rats tend to be quite clever creatures, so it's quite unlikely that it's come in looking for shelter. The rat knows you're going to be spending a fair bit of time in there, which increases its chances of being discovered and potentially killed. So it probably won't think of your bedroom as an ideal place to make a nest for itself, unless your bedroom is exceptionally crowded or dirty. Rats tend to love boxes and other such storage items because they provide ready homes.

But a much bigger reason why there's a rat in your bedroom is that you have food leftovers or tend to store snacks in there. The edible goodies have probably attracted the rodent inside and will keep doing so until you get rid of them.

So what can you do to drive the rat out of your bedroom?
If you suspect either of the above reasons as the main point of attraction for the rat, we suggest you do some much-needed cleaning and decluttering. See, the more open a space is, the less likely it is to attract wildlife because they can't hide there. So running a good, thorough clean can make your bedroom immediately less attractive to the rat.

However, that might not be enough to get rid of it, if the rat has already established a comfy home in there. Rats tend to be nocturnal creatures and quite hard to spot when they're sleeping, so you don't have much of a chance finding them like that. Rather than going to look for the rat yourself, we suggest setting up traps (usually along the walls), to capture the rat on one of its journeys. Live traps are particularly effective and humane methods to get rid of your rat problem without actually harming the rodent. A live trap is basically a cage that will secure the rat and allow you to relocate it to a location where it can't bother anyone. We suggest choosing this method rather than the more traditional snap trap or rat poison, as these are both inhumane and constitute a danger to yourself, your children, and your pets. We also discourage the use of glue traps, as they are considered the cruelest method of capture, and generally the most inefficient.

If none of these options appeal to you, we suggest calling in professional help. An expert in wildlife removal will capture the rodent (or rodents) rapidly and easily, and will then instruct you on rat-proofing your home against future invasions.

In any case, once you've dealt with the rat itself, you need to identify the rat's entry point, otherwise you risk having more rodent trouble in the future.
